After researching the alternative fuel vehicle options currently available, I decided to go Bio.
Biodiesel that is.
This is my new (to me) '04 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI
It has a TDI (Turbo Direct Injected) Diesel engine which has only run on biodiesel (which here in California is made from Soybeans). It's a 5-speed manual, with lots of low-end torque, and has ABS, moonroof, premium sound, lots of airbags and power everything - all typical of a modern German auto.
So no more dino-fuel for me! (And I haven't even seen 'An Inconvenient Truth' yet ...)
Here is a good review of the car -
http://car-reviews.automobile.com/Volkswagen/review/2004-volkswagen-golf-tdi-gls-road-test/769/Biodiesel isn't very widely available yet to the public, but there are a few fueling stations. So you do sacrifice convenience. I guess that's why they call it 'bleeding' edge. :)
If you want more info about biofueled cars, please contact me (though I'm still learning too).
